Simon Hodson, MFTI
As a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, I work with you to identify and resolve issues that feel like they’re preventing you from living the life you know you’re capable of.
Many of those issues surface as a result of losing touch with your authentic self – the self that struggles to find its voice and which is often hidden beneath the roles you may play as mother, husband, sister, supervisor, co-worker or student.
Sometimes, when we lose touch with who we really are, we can get anxious or depressed.
I uncovered my passion for therapy later in life and know what it’s like to struggle to break out of what can sometimes feel like a wet paper bag – dampening vitality and interfering with our ability to see. Often we can feel trapped or suffocated, not knowing what we’re doing or why we’re doing it.
My commitment to you is to use my life experience and training in the service of helping you find your way out of that wet paper bag. When we’re anxious, depressed or simply stressed out it’s often difficult to work out which way is up or down. I can help you re-orient your self and tune back in to your internal guidance system.
I work with individuals, couples and families because your primary challenges may be best addressed in any of those contexts.
I believe that we all have the capacity to uncover a path for ourselves that is fulfilling balanced and that simply feels right. I see my role as one of introducing you to tools that can help you see yourself in a new light and as facilitating the re-discovery of your own innate abilities to heal and grow.
I have a relational approach, working with what shows up in the room between us; and I make use of your past to inform what is happening in the moment. I have experience in working with anxiety, depression and couples across San Francisco’s diverse population.
I offer a mid range fee scale and have daytime, evening and weekend appointments available. Please contact me at (415) 668-3904, ext. 5. or email me at simon@sanfranciscocounseling.com.
I am supervised by Claudia Sinay-Mosias, MFT.
